Walton County CERT

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a program designed to empower individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to help their communities during emergencies and disasters. CERT programs operate under the umbrella of local emergency services and are coordinated by FEMA in the United States. Participants are trained in areas such as disaster preparedness, fire safety, light search and rescue, first aid, and team organization. This training allows CERT members to provide critical assistance during a crisis when professional responders may be delayed or overwhelmed. The program emphasizes a strong sense of civic duty, enabling ordinary citizens to step into extraordinary roles in their communities.

Getting involved in CERT offers many benefits, both personal and communal. For those who are passionate about helping others, CERT provides an opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of friends, neighbors, and fellow community members. The training can also be empowering, equipping individuals with practical skills that boost confidence in emergency situations. Additionally, CERT fosters camaraderie and connection among its members, creating a network of like-minded individuals who share the goal of building resilience and readiness in their communities. Whether you’re looking to learn new skills, contribute to public safety, or simply be part of a community-driven initiative, CERT is an excellent way to get involved.
